Bilateral tubal ligation is one of the most reliable and oldest method of permanent birth control. New research has shown women that remove their tubes entirely also decrease their chance of ovarian cancer besides benefiting from permanent birth control. This procedure can be accomplished at the time of a c-section or laparoscopically as an outpatient procedure. Bilateral tubal ligation or removal does not impact hormonal production from the ovaries and should not cause any change in a woman’s cycle.
