One of the most common complaints in women with endometriosis is pain during sex. Endometriosis causes inflammation of the pelvic organs. This inflammation results in tenderness and pain with penetration during sex. Cystic changes caused by endometriosis in the ovaries as well as scar tissue surrounding the pelvic organs can also cause pain and aggravated with manipulation during sex. Pain and sensation of discomfort are significantly worsened as the patient approaches menses. Also depending on the organs affected by the endometriosis the symptoms may vary.
